Elizabeth Ann Bridges Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Bridges, 77, of North Vernon passed away after a long battle with cancer on Friday, November 27, 2020, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Four Corners with Rev. Jerry Byrd officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A Rosary service will be conducted on Tuesday at 3:30 P.M. with visitation following from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.

In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time and masks are required. We thank our families for their continued cooperation during these difficult times as we strive to help keep our community safe.

Born on December 23, 1942 in the Four Corners area of Jennings County, she was the daughter of Sylvester and Irene Elsner Vogel. She married Jerry Mason Bridges on August 20, 1964 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Elizabeth loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and playing in a Euchre card club for over forty-three years. She retired from Jennings County Schools in 2005 after twenty years of employment. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and a member of St. Joseph’s Rosary Society.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Lee, Mark (Stefanie), and Jane Bridges, and Ann (Clyde) Colaco; grandchildren, Lilly and Mason Bridges, Eleanor and Evelyn Colaco; siblings, Leonard, Paul (Pam), Tom (Louise) Vogel, Henry (Patty) Carr, Anna Mae Raver, Kathleen (Bill) Baurley, Joyce (Gilbert) Vogel, Jeanette (Richard) Heckman, Maria (Mark) Tempest, Marie (Don) Laymon, Coleen Gerth; sisters-in-law, Beverly Vogel, Pauline Vogel, Nesiamae Bayes, and Joyce (Sherman) Allen, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Edith Carr Vogel; brothers, Charles and Bob Vogel, David Carr; brothers-in-law, Elmer Raver, and Dale Gerth.

Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana or St. Joseph’s Cemetery Endowment.
