Mrs. Bessie Colene Smith Ring, 91, of Claudville, VA, passed away at her home Saturday morning, November 28, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Surry County on August 11, 1929, to the late Alexander and Levina Lowe Smith.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.  Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 71 years, William O’Leary Ring of the home, a son, Dean Ring; grandchildren, Timothy Dean Ring and Kelly Lynn Ring; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ring was preceded in death by a son, William George Ring; and two sisters, Kat McCraw and Estelene Hodges.  A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Hatchers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Joe Young and Rev. Roy Rucker officiating.  There will not be any formal visitation for Mrs. Ring at the funeral home.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Ring family.
