Frances A. Halvorsen Obituary

Frances A. Halvorsen, 96, of Lewisburg, died on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at her home.

She was born March 4, 1924 in Warwick, NY, a daughter of the late George and Maria (Koch) Rudy. On November 6, 1949 she married Bernard H. Halvorsen, who preceded her in death on May 23, 1995. Together they celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Frances graduated high school in Warwick, NY.

During WWII she worked for DuPont, Pompton Lakes, NJ, loading ammunition for the war. Frances later worked as a telephone operator in Warwick, NY and at the former Buffalo Valley Telephone Company, Lewisburg. She also worked at Purity Candy for a number of years.

Frances was a member of Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewisburg.

She was also a member of the New Berlin American Legion Post 957 Auxiliary and very active in the PTA when her children were in school.

Frances loved crafting of all types, such as basket weaving, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She also enjoyed gardening and oil painting.

Surviving are one son, B. Henry Halvorsen, of Lewisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Karin and Robert Lilley, of Kutztown; two grandsons, Kyle and Brian Lilley and one great-grandson, Orsen Lilley.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, George, Harold and David and four sisters, Helen, Florence, Louise and Marian.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Leah Williams and Pastor Tim Hogan, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
