Mr. Bradford P. Powns passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 in Charlotte, NC. Bradford was born in Wilmington DE on June 9, 1954. He was the son of the Late Bradford Powns and the later Wanda Wright Powns. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School class of 1972, Delaware State University class of 1977. Bradford was a member of Wine Psi Phi Spr 73, Grove Phi Groove Social Fellowship, Inc. and Masonic Lodge. During the year of 1980 Bradford married Sharon Lotharp and in 1996 he married Wanda Thoams. Throughout his career he worked as Drug and Alcohol Counselor for the state of Delaware, a social worker for the Division of Social Services. In 1984 he enlisted into the Army Reserve. He was appointed State Trooper March 16, 1984 and graduated from the 48th Academy Recruit class from which he retired. Instructor with Communities in Schools, Behavior Interventionist at the P.A.L center as well as with Marion T Academy, life skills teacher at William Penn High School.  After moving to Charlotte Brad became a Security officer for Freedom Temple Montessori School.

Throughout Brads life he was active in football, baseball, coaching (W.E.M.A Youth League, Divas Softball League), shooting pool and golfing. He also enjoyed spending time with daughters and grandchildren, being a social lite, mentoring, reading, traveling, sun bathing, active member of Seniors on the Move of Charlotte and active member of Freedom Temple Ministries    

Survived by two daughters Branden (Brandy) Powns and Brittney Patton (Kevin);Grandchildren Zani Powns-James, Kevin Patton Jr and Nile Patton; One Brother Marion T. Wright (Mary). Brad will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends.
