Hassell Stiltner

HASSELL STILTNER, 92 years of age of Grundy, VA, formerly of Harman, VA, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Grundy, VA. Born March 6, 1928 in Buchanan County, He was the son of the late Roland and Delphie (Belcher) Stiltner. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Harman Memorial Baptist Church. Hassell was a disabled coal miner, and owned Stiltner’s Grocery at Harman, VA. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Hassell loved hunting, fishing and gardening, but his true loves are his two grandchildren and the time he spent with them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30-years, Betty Lou (Prater) Stiltner; his brother, Clayton (Irene) Stiltner; his sisters, Lucille Stiltner, Berchie Toler, Zella French and Marie (Bill) McBroom. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Patricia Gail (Stiltner) Blackburn of Grundy, VA; his son, Allen (Kathy) Stiltner of Harman, VA; 2-Grandchildren: Jonathan Stiltner of Harman, VA, Katie (Chuckie) Clevinger of Oakwood, VA; 1-Great-Grandchild: Ava Rose Clevinger of Oakwood, VA; 1-Sister: Goldy Young of Fairmont, WV. Also, survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday morning at 10:00 A.M. Funeral Services for HASSELL STILTNER will be conducted Monday, November 30, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shea Shrader officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA. Active Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be Staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home and Dr. J.G. Patel. We will be taking proactive measures to help prevent the spread of any potential illness. In an effort to minimize direct contact, we ask that you consider avoiding shaking hands or physical contact with the members of the family or other guests. Direct Eye Contact, Loving Words, and a Warm Smile can be as meaningful to the families as a traditional handshake or hug, especially during these difficult times.
