Funeral services for Bill Head, age 89, of Roanoke will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020, at 1:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jim Head and Bro. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-1:00 PM on Monday before services begin. Mr. Head passed away Friday, November 27, 2020, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee. Survivors include his wife, LaRue Knight Head of Roanoke; two sons, Richard Head (Ginger) of Roanoke and David Head of Talladega; four grandchildren, Ross Head (Brooke Farmer), Will Head (Holley), Erin Burroughs (Trey), and Brad Head; five great-grandchildren, Eli Head, William Jason Head, Charlie Burroughs, Parker Burroughs, and Emma Burroughs; five sisters, Margie Llewellyn of Knoxville, TN, Edith Adamson of Rock Mills, Joan Lester of Newnan, GA, Nancy Hill of Roanoke, and Eris Hendricks of Newnan, GA; and one brother, Jim Head of Roanoke. Pallbearers will be Chuck Head, Michael Adamson, Chance Hill, Ross Head, Will Head, and Brad Head. A Rock Mills native, Mr. Head was born on February 6, 1931, the son of Gaut and Iowa Nevada Mitchum Head. He was Baptist by faith and worked as a machinist for Handley Mills and 20 years at West Point Foundry Machine Co. Mr. Head was a United States Army veteran of the Korean conflict and was a former member of the American Legion. He enjoyed cutting grass, raising cows, farming, and, as the son of a carpenter, self-maintained all of the rental properties he owned. Mr. Head was a huge Atlanta Braves fan and watched the games every chance he had. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, William Clyde Head; and two brothers, Junior Head and Bob Head.
