Glenn A. Chapin BOMOSEEN-Glenn Arthur Chapin, 92, of Bomoseen died Tuesday November 18, 2020 at Our House Outback in Rutland. He was born on January 18, 1928 in White River the son of George and Lucy (McIver) Chapin. He grew up in White River Jct. graduating from the Hartford High School in 1946 and immediately joined the U. S. Air force until his honorable discharge in 1949. He enrolled in R.P. I. graduating with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He was always interested in flying and got his pilot’s license in high school. He was employed by the U. S. government for over 25 years working on designing and obtaining flight simulators for the U. S. Navy. He married Heilene Bement Carter, a high school classmate, in 1979 and they made their home in Winter Park, Fl until moving to Brookfield, VT in 1994. They moved to Bomoseen, VT 0n 2005. He was a member of the Crippen-Fellows American Legion Post # 50 in Castleton. Survivors include his wife Heilene, his 4 children Susan Tarnower of Townsend, GA, Debbie Mitman of Beltsville, MD, Steven Chapin of Los Angeles, CA and Patricia Chapin of Cape Vincent, NY, 2 stepchildren Carol Filfalt of N. Hartford, VT, and Alan Carter of Virginia Beach, VA, 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a brother Paul Chapin of Marshfield, NC. He was predeceased by a sister Louise Bass and a brother Stewart Chapin. A graveside services will be held at a later date in the Hartland Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven, VT. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05764
