Phyliss Mary "Joan" Turner Obituary

Phyliss Mary “Joan” Turner passed away peacefully on November 23, 2020.

Joan is survived by; daughter, Lois “Lou” (Roy Schoenke) Barnum; son Jim (Iona); grandchildren, Clinton Barnum, Duncan (Jessica) Barnum, Devon (Kevin) Adamson, Patrick (Christine) Fewtrell, Colton Schoenke, Brianna (Bryan) Barron; great grandchildren Harlin Barnum, Nova Barnum, Declan Adamson, Elliott Adamson and Robin Fewtrell. She also leaves to mourn her passing her brother Ken Nelson as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her parents, her brother Jim Catterall and her husband David Turner.

Joan was born July 21, 1934 in Sechelt, B.C. and while working for B.C. Telephone in Sechelt she met Dave Turner, who was working for the Forest Services. They married in Nanaimo in 1953 and were happily married for 62 years (despite her being a Montreal Canadien fan and Dave a Toronto Maple Leaf diehard.)

Devoted to her family Joan was also active in the Presbyterian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and for many years a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family would like to express our appreciation to The Gardens at Qualicum Beach staff who gave Joan the highest quality of care and attention. Thank You!

While a celebration of life is not an option at this time donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
