Edith Haidley, 88 years, of Fremont, NE passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE. Edith was born March 29, 1932 to Karl and Elizabeth (Sckhaufer) Maier in Munich Germany. She married Mendal Laufer at the Catholic church in Munich. In 1953, Edith and her family moved to the United States and became a naturalized citizen. Mendal passed away in 2000. Edith worked for the Fremont Public Schools as a bus driver. She also worked for Omaha Steaks as a sales representative and retired in 1994. Edith married Walter Haidley in Fremont. Edith was a hard-working woman her whole life. She enjoyed traveling, visiting with her family, and caring for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Mendal and Walter; parents; Rita Grille, Inge Bevar, Lisalottie Maier, Lydia Kockerell, Karl Maier Sr, Karl Maier Jr, Rudolph Maier, Norbert Maier, Montford Maier. She is survived by her son, Jurek “George” (Michelle) Laufer of Fremont; sister, Martha Wiens of Hutchinson, KS; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Memorial Service will be 1 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2020 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Al Duminy will officiate. Burial will be at Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
