The family of the late Mary “Donna” (Arsenault) Butcher announce her passing, which occurred peacefully at her home on Friday, November 27th, 2020, after a short but valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.  Born 1947, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Anna (Cyr) Arsenault. Donna worked as a cook at Steve’s Fish & Chips on City Rd.  She enjoyed playing bingo and card games, especially Jacks or Better.  Donna loved spending time with her family, travelling, dancing, camping and fishing.  She had an amazing sense of humour and she was a mother first, even in tough times.  Donna recently celebrated her 73rd birthday with her family and friends.  One of her fondest memories was meeting Hugh Hefner in Mexico while on vacation.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Donna is survived by her loving and devoted spouse Gregory McKinney of 40 years; daughters Dawn Richard (Ted) of Saint John, Cora Butcher (Dean LaPointe) of Saint John; son Darrin of Calgary, AB; grandchildren Ashley (Cameron), Adam (Alicia), Nicholas (Michelle), Kaitlynn and Crystal; great grandchildren Mackenzie and Madison; as well as many adored nieces, nephews and friends.  Donna was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers George and Ronnie and sisters Marie, Linda, Rhona, Shirley, Joanie, Doreen and Verlyne.

A special thank you to Extra Mural and Dr. Heidi Milner-Gero & Team.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Due to Covid restrictions, a private graveside service will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Monday, November 30th.
