V. Nadine Walker, 86, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020, surrounded by her children. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the Springside Cemetery. Chaplain David Benavides will officiate. Visitation hours will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, and Monday at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory. Social distancing guidelines remain in affect and please wear a facial covering. Nadine was Born April 7, 1934, in Winfield to Edna Grace Brown Moore and Clyde C. Moore. Nadine attended schools in Winfield and Arkansas City. She was determined to finish school and completed her GED in 1979. Nadine Moore and Dickey Gene Walker were married December 24, 1949, in Arkansas City and had four children. Nadine had her first employment at Howard Theater in Arkansas City at the age of 13. After getting married she dedicated her time to raising her children and taking care of the home. As her children grew older she worked outside the home. In 1963, she worked for Mary Lou’s Café at 100 E. Washington and became co-owner with Mary Lou Whitford. In 1982, she and her husband opened Walker Plumbing on West Kansas Ave. and they worked together until their retirement in 2002. Nadine attended Walnut Valley Quilters Guild and has made quilts for all her family members. She also enjoyed bowling, golf, card games, and spending time with her family. Nadine is survived by her children Larry Walker and wife Lydia; Dixie Givens and husband David all of Arkansas City; Marcia Crandall and husband Bob of Braman, OK; Carol Shurtz of Arkansas City; grandchildren Eddie Walker, Clint Walker, Lance Givens, Staci Duncan, Paige Hale, Jarrod Shurtz, Olivia Wilkey all of Arkansas City; Lyle Crandall of Ponca City; Robin Johnson of Newkirk; Kim Shoffner of Lee’s Summit, MO; great-grandchildren Brandie Davis of Wichita; Dalton and Brice Walker, Dakota, Dax, and Saylor Givens, Jaycie Shurtz, Maverick and Major Hale all of Arkansas City; Drake and Danika Duncan, Trevor and Walker Johnson, Mason Enderud all of Newkirk; Trey Crandall Shaffer of Norfolk, VA; Addison Shoffner of Lee’s Summit, MO; Collin and Brynn Crandall of Ponca City; Selina Enderud of Lansing, KS; and long time beloved friend Delores Guilinger of Olathe, KS. Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years Dickey Walker, brothers Lawrence Brown, Keith Moore, Kenneth Moore, sisters Wanda Burdick and Maxine Jenkins, and great-granddaughter Chelsie Dawn Johnson. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
