Eugene Matsushige, 93, of Halethorpe, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at his home. Born July 30, 1927 in California, he was the son of the late Henry Uichi and Manuela (Peraza) Matsushige. He was the loving husband of the late Jean Gertrude Matsushige, who predeceased him March 8, 2011. Eugene was a veteran of the United States Navy. He graduated from City College High School, and Baltimore Junior College where he received an Associate’s Degree. Eugene was a chemist for Sherwin Williams, until his retirement. He loved to read and tend to his garden and enjoyed listening to music and shopping. Surviving him are stepsons Edward Ridgely, Steven Ridgely and Brent Ridgely; multiple grandchildren; nieces Joyce, Leslie, Jennifer, Merrie Sue and Eugenie; nephews Ed Jennings; and extended family. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by his siblings and nephews Rick Ridgely and Richard Sakemi. Services will be private for family. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Sykesville.
