James M. Duffy, Jr.

James Michael Duffy, Jr., 72, of Hamilton, passed away at Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell, NJ on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, the day before his 73rd birthday with his wife and son by his side. Born in Trenton, Jim was a lifelong area resident. He attended Our Lady of Sorrows School and later graduated from Notre Dame High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation, Jim attended Mercer County Community College where he graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970. Jim was employed with Bell Atlantic, which is now Verizon Communications, Inc. and retired as a database manager in 2003 after 36 years of service. In years past, he had been a member of Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed his time playing softball in an adult league and took great pleasure in his years coaching his son’s Little League team and other activities. Jim could often be found at Mercer County Park with his beloved dog, Jake. He was a lifelong technologist and carried that passion for technology into his retirement. Retirement allowed him to travel and he did so throughout the United States and Europe with his wife and son. Jim was especially proud of his Irish heritage and nationality. Predeceased by his parents, James M., Sr. and Margaret T. (Burnett) Duffy; his great-niece, Hannah Tomasello; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Duffy; he is survived by his wife, Kathleen R. Hoff; his son, James M. Duffy, III; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Maureen and Michael Laird and Patricia and Frank Schaaf, all of Hamilton; and his brothers and sister-in-law, Dennis Duffy of Robbinsville and Gary and Anne Duffy of Allentown. Jim left behind many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 30, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows-St. Anthony Parish, Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church, 3816 East State Street Ext., Hamilton, NJ. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum in Hamilton, NJ. Visitation will be private. Due to funeral restrictions, the staff at the Saul Colonial Home, respectfully requests that all funeral attendees please wear a face covering of some kind during the services for Mr. Duffy. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for your understanding.
