Karen Triplett Midwest City, Oklahoma Obituary

Karen Triplett

Carolyn “Karen” Ann Triplett passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday Nov. 26, 2020 also known as Thanksgiving. Karen was born Nov. 17th, 1943 in Charlotte, North Carolina which in later years she would proudly claim as her birth location trying to be a southern genteel woman. Mind you she never lived in Charlotte. She was born to widow Marjorie Preston and birth father Richards (Dick) Heuer. Being they were not married one did not raise a child out of wedlock. So Marjorie gave custody to her cousin Betty Boutilier and her husband LTC. Robert Boutilier who could not have children. Karen ended up attending 13 different schools because of the Air Force. As retirement was growing near for her parents Karen was given the choice of what high school to graduate from. It was narrowed to Winslow, Arizona or Midwest City, Ok. Karen always said she wanted to stay in Winslow but her parents had come to love Tinker AFB and Midwest City. So she graduated from Midwest City High School in 1961. Her first marriage not long after graduation resulted in her finding the truth about her parents. During the years Marjorie and Dick Heuer had married and had another child which was a full brother to Karen. Although he didnt know it for years she did. The brother finally was told by Karen years later in 1985. As it turned out there were several half brothers and 1 half sister from Dicks prior marriage. Karen loved having siblings. She never met her birth parents and that was fine with her. She loved loved loved having a older sister and younger brother. Karen’s first marriage was short lived . He was Air Force and would beat her. For a young woman to break away from almost death in the early 60’s was not very common. She had a inner strength even then. Many years later she would have shoulder surgery which was started by the beatings and aggravated by her many years of bowling. Karen went on to marry 3 more times. Butch Gregson with whom she had 2 children Cyndie and Ron, N. Dale Talkington with whom she had Sarah and finally John W. Triplett-no children. Throughout the years Karen never really had to job hunt. Genie girls would send her out and because of her hard work ethic the company would hire her permanently. Star Manufacturing and Hebco being two of the longest. Karen was a franchisee owner of a successful Diet Center in Midwest City and worked for Smokenders traveling the country teaching smoking cessation courses. Starting in 2003 Karen and her daughters did something they never imagined. They started meeting people that were fans of Clay Aiken on Season 2 of American Idol. They were what became known as some of the Original “Claymates”. The Claymates showed how powerful people could become thanks to the internet. In 2007 her last husband John Triplett passed away. All we will say about the ensuing couple of years is love and support your widowed parent. If it seems another persons family is trying to push yours away stop it right away. Don’t be afraid to go to the police or courts if you are the least bit suspicious. For Karen to leave a bad situation she was involved in it was decided she would move out of state with Sarah and her husband Tulio. First was Tennessee. After a boy and girl were born to Sarah and Tulio it was time to move again. Karen would always say she was there for Cyndie as a grandmother to her 2 daughters. Now it was time to be a grandparent to Sarah’s two children. She had her son Ron living with her to help her out. It was time again to move this time to Vicksburg Mississippi. After a couple of years Ron moved to Nashville and Sarah’s children were older so she decided to move back to Oklahoma. Karen arrived here the very end of February 2020 and moved into a assisted living facility. 2 weeks later they went on quarantine and we never were able to go in and see her again. She had a couple of doctor appointments we made sure to take her to so that gave us a few minutes of being with her. So far we have no idea what she even died of or why she died. Could have been many different health issues but we are leaning more toward COPD. Karen had one life long love. That was Boston Red Sox Baseball. She still watched or listened as much as she could. Karen was preceded in death by both her birth parents and her adoptive parents, her husband John W. Triplett , 1 great grandson Wrieley Bontty, and her beloved dogs Smokie, Hokie and Pokie. Karen is survived by 2 daughters and their husbands Cyndie Bohannan (Vance), Midwest City, Ok., Sarah Figarola (Tulio) Madison, Mississippi, 1 son Ronald Boutilier, Nashville, Tenn, grandchildren Nicole Bontty (Jessie), Samantha Brannen of MWC, Ok., Tulio Figarola and sister Sophia Figarola of Madison, Miss. 3 great grandsons Jayden, Keighan and Evirette Bontty all of Midwest City. She is also survived by the best ex husband ever N. Dale Talkington, Stillwater, Ok. and BFF Linda Turner of Yukon, Ok. Karen also leaves surviving her 1 brother Jim Heuer , Portland Oregon and her older sister Anne Lewis who is living with her daughter since COVID started in San Diego. She also leaves behind numerous cousins and friends. Karen asked me once years ago to include something in her obituary when it was time. Karen was not a religious person. She believed everyone had the right to think as they chose and if they wanted to worship a lamppost that was their right. But Karen was spiritual. She believed in a more powerful and higher being then any of us. She worshiped God in her own way and prayed daily. We know Mum you will always be here watching over your babies and we will try to do you proud. We love you and always will. At this time there will not be any memorial service. There may be one in the spring or early summer after vaccinations for COVID have taken place. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your local animal shelter.
