Wanda Baber

Wanda Draper Baber, 62, of Charlottesville passed away suddenly after a long illness on Monday, November 23, 2020 at UVA Hospital. She was born in Charlottesville on April 13, 1958 to the late John W. Draper and Mildred F. Draper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, William Glenn Baber, who passed away in 1997. Wanda is survived by her children: Kristen Stillwell and her husband Corey; and William (Willie) Baber. She is also survived by her siblings: John Draper and his wife Cindy; Timmy Draper and his wife Sandy; Ruby Jacobs and Kip Draper. She is also survived by her grandson Petey and many nieces and nephews including Lauren, Burgundy, John, Adriana, Tim, Tommy and Darby. Wanda was a life-long resident of Charlottesville. She enjoyed playing soft ball. She played short-stop for Morton’s Honey Buns in her early years. She also enjoyed driving which led to becoming a delivery driver for Emery Worldwide. After the company relocated, Wanda decided to stay home and take care of her grandson, Petey. Wanda’s favorite past time was playing Bingo. She would go to many different places around Charlottesville and surrounding counties. She also enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City and Charlestown to play slot machines. She was able to have a trip to Atlantic City in September. A funeral service will be held for Wanda on Saturday November 28th at 1:00 pm at Hill and Wood Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens where she will be interred next to her husband. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 on Friday November 27, 2020 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
