The family announces Fred's peaceful passing on November 20, 2020 at Riverview Health Centre with loved ones by his side. Fred grew up on a farm in Kaleida, MB and attended a one room schoolhouse. He ventured out into the workforce at the young age of 14 and worked for Manitoba Pool Elevators for several years. All of his work life was spent in the roofing and construction industry, later owning his own company. Fred also lived in Alberta and Saskatchewan, but ended up making Winnipeg his latest home. Fred absolutely loved the outdoors, especially the Pembina Valley. Some of his happiest times were spent hunting and fishing with his buddies, but mostly hanging out with his cousin, Freddy, at the Medicine Line Ranch. Another one of Fred's passions was the Winnipeg Jets. It was always a "lively" room when he was watching a game. Thanks to his good friend, Chris, he was able to attend some games in person! Fred was predeceased by his father, Fred Sr. in 1988. He is survived by his loving companion Shelley and family, daughter Katie; step-daughter Raelene (Kevin); step-son Bob (Shannon) and his five grandkids, Kole, Kallie, Parker, Charlie and Taylor. Also surviving, his mother Bessie; sisters Terry, Cathy (Wes), Julie (Brian), brother Jeff (Leanne) and half brother David (Donna) and families. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Riverview Health Centre 3 East, for their kind and compassionate care during Fred's final days. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
