Lillie Jones Kessinger 7/14/1950 – 11/23/2020 Lillie Jones Kessinger, 70 of Roanoke, VA lovingly referred to as “Lou” passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, November 23, 2020. She was born in Ivanhoe, VA on July 14, 1950 to Lillian Gibbs Jones & Marvin Jones. She was one tough cookie and over came a lot of odds growing up. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970. She began her career with Roanoke County Social Services in 1972. She loved her career in social work. She went above and beyond for “her” people during her 30 year career with Roanoke County where she retired early at the age of 52 to do what she loved most spend time with her grandbabies. She loved Jesus, Elvis, Mustangs and her family. She enjoyed working in her flower beds filled with her favorite flowers, her trips to goodwill, auctions and antiquing. She was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Marvin E. Jones and John Jones; one grandchild Lilly Beamer; brother-in-law, David Meador; and sister-in-law, Karen Jones. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 40 years, Roy Kessinger, son and daughter in law, Kevin & Amai Beard; daughter and son in law, Jennifer & Josh Beamer; step daughter & son in law, Julie & Tony Pauley; grandchildren, Jessica (Brent) Meadows, Lexi Phonasa, Justin Beard, Garrett Beamer, Zach Pauley, Gabby Beard, Grace Beamer, EJ Beard, Mackenzie Pauley, JP Beamer and Maci Beamer. One very special great grandchild Scarlett Meadows. Her faithful furchild and protector until the end, Blue. Her sister, Elaine Meador; brother Tommy Jones, and sister in law, Vicki Jones. Along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, November 30, 2020 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Oakey's North Chapel. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2 pm Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Oakey’s North Chapel with Pastor Mark Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
