Mary Jane Wood Stewart, 89, of Rockville, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Clinton Gardens Memory Care, Clinton, Indiana.
Born March 29, 1931 in Westfield, she was the daughter of John Wood, Rosa Wood Luking and Ralph Luking. She married Fred M. Stewart on May 21, 1950. He preceded her in death in 2014.
She graduated from Westfield High School and served with her husband in his ministry in Oregon and the Western Yearly meeting of Friends in Indiana. Locally, they served the following churches: Bloomingdale Friends Meeting, Coloma Friends Meeting Marshall Federated Church, and Tangier Rush Creek Friends Meeting. She retired in 1996 from Parke State Bank in Marshall.
Mary is survived by two sons, Steve (Robin) Stewart and Kevin (Janice) Stewart, all of Marshall; Eight grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Emery, Kelsey (Jason) Carmichael, Renee (Dylan) Lambermont, Kyle (Stephanie) Stewart, Lindsey (John) Helm, Brianna (Andrew) Hodge, Tiernay Stewart and Kendra Wilkinson; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons (infant, and Brian Stewart); sister, Norma Barker and brother, Jack Wood.
A private family service will be held on Saturday, November 28, with a 1:00 p.m. public graveside service and burial at Poplar Grove Cemetery, Marshall. Wearing of masks and social distancing is requested. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes and Rice Funeral Home of Rockville.
