Rev. Garner J. Berg

Rev. Garner J. Berg, 92, Hays, died Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at HaysMed.

He was born July 15, 1928 the son of Joseph R. and Helen F. (Garner) Berg.  On July 27, 1946 he was united in marriage to Harriet F. Rossow in McPherson, and they celebrated 62 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on November 25, 2008.  He later married Nancy (Wheatcroft) Stanka.  Garner was a United Methodist minister, serving for 39 years in United Methodist churches in Kansas and Texas, retiring in 1995.  In Salina, he served at the Church of the Cross.  He enjoyed traveling and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Nancy of Hays, two sons: Barry Berg of Indiana and Jon Berg of Kansas, and a daughter: Brenda-Berg Morrow of New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church, Hays.  Burial will be at 2:30 pm in McPherson City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 on Tuesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Wednesday at the church.
