                                      Celebration Of Life

                                 Virginia Winningham Singleton

Born: 10/28/29 in St. George S.C. to Flora Mae Winningham(Robinson)

Passing: 11/25/2020

Virginia eventually moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. and graduated From Thomas Jefferson High in 1946

After achieving her LPN from The University of New York 1952 she married Luther Singleton.

She soon gave birth to Karen and Jared Singleton respectively. She loved and cared for under her roof, Joyce Bunch (Moore), Alex, Cherry and Lenice Straws (Houston) until their parents were able to.

She went on to achieve her nursing degree from the State University of New York A & T College at Farmingdale (SUNY) in 1978 to start, and then a list of other academic achievements followed. As her son, I had the privilege and luxury of benefiting from her love, affection, wisdom, guidance, education, moral compass, intellectual strength, common sense, intestinal fortitude, sense of fair dealing, justice, and righteousness.

She gave of herself unselfishly, the benefit of her wisdom and experience of her life, touched the hearts of hundreds of family members, friends, coworkers and those she congregated with in fellowship.

The advantage of having an up-close view of her, was that I was able to determine that her belief in god and her belief in the scriptures was strong. Her religious practices made her a beautiful extension of god.

Her standard of behavior earned her a richly deserved place of honor and respect in this world among all who knew her. God made her not only pleasant to look at, but a pleasure to be around.

She is preceded in death by her husband Luther, and daughter Karen. I personally will never recover from her absence. There will never be another like her.

Virginia Singleton’s cremains will remain with her surviving son Jared, until a date to be determined. At that time, she will be interned with her husband at the National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC. with a military burial. Family and friends will be notified of that date and time when it is safe again to congregate.
