LORETTA FAYE HOLIFIELD Dec. 28, 1928 – Nov. 22, 2020 Loretta Faye Holifield, daughter of the late Loran and Edith Holifield,died peacefully in the company of her family on November 22, 2020 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lee J. Holifield, and sons Gary Lee Holifield, who died in infancy, and Lindell Neil Holifield in 2014. She is survived by Lindell’s widow, Jacqueline Holifield of Mountain Grove, Missouri, daughter Linda Faye Cook (Gene Cook) of California, Missouri, and son Christopher Scott Holifield (David Lauber) of St. Louis. She was grandmother to five, Chris Coffman (Shane Coffman), James Holifield (Jose Guerrero), Kurt Holifield (Alfredo Flores, Jr.), David Cook (Crystal Cook), and Daniel Cook (Danielle Cook). She has seven great grandchildren, Brock Coffman, Cade Coffman, Lydia Cook, Margaret Cook, Emilia Thomas, Aubrey Thomas, and Klara Cook, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Darrell Holifield and Doyne Holifield. She is survived by her sister Vondala Underwood of Paragould, Arkansas along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Loretta was born in Pollard, Arkansas,and was proud to recount stories of working in her Grandpa Kirk’s general store and of harnessing a team of horses and plowing her father’s fields. After marriage, she and Lee J. lived approximately 25 years in St. Louis, returning to Arkansas in the 1970’s. They eventually settled in Pollard on family land where Loretta loved being close to her parents and family. She enjoyed working alongside Lee J. in his construction business, gardening, and raising cattle. They were very active caring for Cummins Chapel Cemetery for many years. The family will celebrate Loretta’s life and memory in a private funeral. Instead of flowers, memorial gifts to Cummins Chapel Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved Lee J. are encouraged.
