Margaret 'Peggy' Keller Big Timber, Montana Obituary

Margaret 'Peggy' Keller

Margaret “Peggy” Keller (Buckner) died peacefully of natural causes in her home in Big Timber, Montana on November 21st, 2020 at the age of 82. Peggy was born on September 25th, 1938 in Hardin, MT to Edward and Cecilia (Fischback) Buckner. Her father died at a young age and her mother remarried Carl Schuppe, who raised her. After graduating from Hardin High School, she worked at the telephone company, where she met the love of her life, John Keller. Peggy and John got married on August 13th, 1960. They continued to live in the Hardin area where Peggy not only helped on the farm but raised 4 children and worked part time Dolly’s Grocery. In 1972, John and Peggy moved their family to Big Timber, MT where they raised cattle, pigs, and sheep. Her beloved John passed away in 1980, but she stayed working on the ranch with her children, until 1981, when she moved into town. She became employed as a dietary aid at Pioneer Medical Center, where she worked until her retirement in 2010. Mom enjoyed life to the fullest. Spending time with her family and friends was her greatest joy. She was known to have a love for “Jeopardy”, “Wheel of Fortune” and just the Game Show Network in general. After each episode of “Jeopardy”, it was a guarantee that her and Luella would be on the phone discussing the outcome of the show. Mom always looked forward to a couple of glasses of Arbor Mist with her best friends Pam, Luella, Mary and the many others that she made during her years in Big Timber. Mom will always be remembered for her smile, sassiness, and her deep faith. She was the perfect example of love, kindness, and generosity. Mom had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and appreciated. Peggy is survived by her four children, son, John (Donna) Keller of Glendive, MT, and daughters, Tammy (Dave) Church of Big Timber, MT; Kim (Scott) Langhus of Big Timber, MT; Carla (Perry) Hein of Ballantine, MT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Whitney (Aaron) Mischel, Cole Church, Tyler and Jordan (Lauren) Langhus, Justin (Taylor) Chaffin, Beth, Jessica, and Bailey Chaffin, Levi (Anna) Hein, Justin (Bethany) Hein, and Sheena (Jacob) Sanford as well as seven great grandchildren, Taylor, Kade, Wic, Perri, Ty, Mallory, and Kimber and many nieces and nephews. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, brother Ed Buckner, sisters Clarice Hert and Bonnie Yurick and infant sister Norma Buckner. Her husband John Keller and granddaughter Courtney Keller. Mom, you will be forever in our hearts and truly missed. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday November 28, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Big Timber. Due to current COVID restrictions, guests have been limited to immediate family and close friends. Rite of Committal will take place next spring at Fairview Cemetery in Hardin.
