Raymond George 'Ray' Kunda

Raymond George “Ray” Kunda, 83, of Big Timber, MT passed away peacefully on November 22, 2020 at the Pioneer Medical Center. He was born February 7th, 1937 to Edward Joseph Kunda & Victoria Knapkiewicz in Wibaux, MT. He was the 6th sibling of 8. He grew up on the family farm in St. Phillips, and then at age 18 he started working in road construction. He met his love Elizabeth Figgins and they were married October 11, 1958. They moved from job to job making a family as Ray worked for a number of different companies, including working at the North Slope. They had four boys Nicholas, Jeffery, Brian, and Kevin. In the late 70’s they moved to Big Timber, MT where Ray was hired on as the Sweet Grass County Road Supervisor and then moved on working various other jobs and then eventually retiring from Stillwater Mine. He and Liz built a cabin up the Main Boulder where they spent every minute of their spare time. Ray is survived by his sons, Jeffery (Penny), Brian (Barb), Kevin (Char), Grandchildren Chris (Lydia), Bill (Misty), Stephanie (Jason), Kalvin (Nicole) and a number of Great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son (Nicholas), and four siblings. Funeral Mass was held November 27, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment following at Mountain View Cemetery. To leave condolences for the family, please visit www.stenbergfuneralhome.com
