Edith (Kerr) Berry of Qualicum Beach , born November 4, 1926 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, passed away November 21, 2020 in the presence of loved ones. As a prairie girl she sought out an adventurous life. She trained as a nurse at St. Paul’s Hospital, beginning her nursing career in Saskatchewan.  She continued nursing in the remote community of Alert Bay in B.C. for a short while before moving to Port Alberni.  She then used her nursing skills to train as a  stewardess for TCA in Manitoba, once hitchhiking all the way from Vancouver to Winnipeg. After some time in the air, she was encouraged to come back to settle in Port by Bruce, her soon-to-be partner for over 68 years.  Together with Bruce, she raised four daughters and worked many years as a RN at West Coast General Hospital.  After many years living out at “the lake”, Edith and Bruce retired to Nanoose Bay, then Qualicum Beach. They drove across the country and up to Alaska in their van, and traveled to distant lands.  They were active with the Sailing and Walking clubs and greatly enjoyed the social aspects of their communities. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Bruce, in January, 2020 and continued to live independently. She leaves behind her four daughters: Karen (Ron), Lynn (Rick), Brenda (Mike), Beverly (Dave), and five grandchildren: Jennifer, Chelsey (Corey), Kimberly (Leoh), Stephen (Michelle)  and Katelyn (Matt), and four great grandchildren: Connor, Hunter, Bryer and Aurelia, also many nieces and nephews. Edith was loving and much loved. If desired, donations in Edith’s name may be made to The Salvation Army or The Canadian Heart and Stroke Fund.  Family will gather in remembrance in the spring.
