Michael Darris Parker

<p>Michael Darris Parker age 65 of Calhoun, Ga died Tuesday, November 24, 2020, after years of declining health. Mike was born in Floyd County on December 18, 1954. He was preceded in death by his father Emory Parker, step-father Earl Ray, paternal grandparents, Taylor &ldquo;T. P.&rdquo; and Dovie Parker, maternal grandparents, Clyde and Laura McEntyre. Mike was a 1973 graduate of Red Bud High School and worked years in the carpet sample industry. Mike had a tremendous love of baseball, especially his Atlanta Braves. Mike was excited when his triplet brothers were born stating, &ldquo;now I have my own ball team&rdquo;! Mike also had unconditional love for animals. His favorite being cats. He took in many homeless cats and provided food and shelter. Mike never looked at them as a burden but as his family. A cat&#39;s mischief and playfulness always made him smile and lifted his spirits.</p> <p>Mike is survived by his loving mother Juanita McEntrye Parker Ray, his sisters, Debbie (Randy) Seabolt, Jan (Kenny) Hammond, his brothers Bruce (Teresa) Parker, Brent (Teresa) Parker, and Brian Parker (Tina) and very special aunt Hazel Moss. Mike is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other family members.<br /> Due to the ongoing national health crisis, there will a graveside service at Fain Cemetery Friday, Nov 27th at 12:00 pm with Eddie Brannon officiating. Face coverings must be properly worn by all those who plan to attend. Social distancing guidelines must be followed at all times while attending the service.</p> <p>The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mike&rsquo;s memory to the following pet rescue: &nbsp;</p> <p>Animal Rescue League of NW Georgia<br /> 1384 Self Lake Rd SE<br /> Fairmount, Ga 30139</p> <p>Our family would like to thank the Brannon family and staff for their continued willingness to serve our community during these uncertain times.
