Edna "Mae" Raley Obituary

   Edna “Mae” Raley, 78,  of New Concord, OH, formerly of Baltimore, MD, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.   Mae retired from the Baltimore County School System where she worked in food service for many years.  Her last five years were spent in New Concord, near her son Gary, where she enjoyed volunteering at the College Drive Presbyterian Church food pantry and also at Dr. Holdren’s office in New Concord.  She could also be found regularly at the Guernsey Country Dog Shelter where she enjoyed taking treats to all the animals and where she adopted her beloved cat, Bella.   Mae was a member of Christ Our Light Parish in Cambridge, OH as well as the Guernsey County Senior Center where she made many friends. 

   Born October 23, 1942, in Baltimore, MD, Mae was the daughter of the late Britton and Edna Leishar Brown.   She married on January 9, 1960 to John L. Raley, who preceded her in death on April 5, 1991.  She is survived by sons Robert A. Raley of Baltimore, MD, Gary D. (Cathy) Raley of New Concord, OH, daughter Bridget L. (James) Ling of Timonium, MD, and brother Elmer (Joyce) Brown of Rehoboth  Beach, DE.  She was preceded in death by her sisters Elizabeth Dixon, Catherine Hanratty, Theresa Twist, Doris Rose, Marguerite Dyar, and brothers Charles Brown and Edward Brown.  Also survived by nine grandchildren, Jessica (Sean) Rogers, Amanda Raley, Melissa (Jake) Ratliffe, Jaime Raley, Matthew Raley, Joshua Raley, James Ling, Robert Heise, Bridget “Dee-Dee” Ling, and six great-grandchildren, Courtney Clark, Sean Rogers, Charlie Hollifield, Amyah England, Gary Ratliffe and Henry Ratliffe.

   A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 3rd, from 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1328 Sulphur Spring Road, Arbutus, MD.  Funeral service to occur on Friday, December 4th at 10:30am at the Church of the Ascension, 4603 Poplar Ave, Halethorpe, MD.  Burial follows at Loudon Park Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
