Sarah Picone

Sarah (Rubinovitz) Picone, 99, of Gloucester, passed away Monday morning, November 23, 2020 at Beverly Hospital. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Pauline (Kaufman) Rubinovitz. Sarah was a graduate of Dorchester High School and continued her education at Teacher’s College in Boston. Mrs. Picone taught French in the Gloucester School System from 1957 until her retirement in 1985. Sarah was a member of the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement and Co-Coordinator of their French classes. She was also a member of the French Library on Marlborough Street in Boston for many years. Sarah enjoyed traveling extensively in France. She is survived by her daughter, A. Ruth Menicocci of Gloucester; her grandson, Robert Menicocci and his companion Adele Pollis of Santa Cruz, CA and two brothers, Samuel Rubinovitz of Lincoln, MA & Long Boat Key, FL and Joseph Rubinovitz of Framingham. She was predeceased by a sister Esther Rubinovitz; two brothers, Morris and Julius Rubinovitz; a son-in-law, Robert Menicocci and her former husband Edward Picone. A private Graveside Service will be held in Seaside Cemetery in Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sarah’s name may be made to Charity of one’s choice.
