SOUTH THOMASTON – Robert Charles Risch Sr., 91, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 20, 2020. Born April 7, 1929 in Brooklyn New York to Harry and Johanna (Lang) Risch, he was educated in local schools, graduating from Midwood High School and Nassau Community College. Robert served in the United States Navy as a Construction Mechanic with the Seabees and then as a Captain in the 14th Regiment Infantry of the New York National Guard. Following his service in the U.S. Navy he began work with Rason Asphalt Inc in 1950, retiring after 33 years in 1984 as an Operating Engineer. Following his retirement, he moved his family to South Thomaston. Predeceased by his parents, his wife, Lucille, and his sister, Eleanor Hanson, he is survived by his sons, Robert C. Risch Jr. and his wife Lynn of Medford Long Island, NY; Eric C. Risch and his wife Jackie of West Gardiner; David F. Risch and his wife Diane of Marion MA; and Kevin C Risch and his wife Michelle of South Thomason. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Jaclyn, Kevin, Laura, Maxwell, David, Cheryl-Lynn, and Elizabeth. Robert’s family has chosen to remember his life privately and there will be no public services. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors with his wife Lucille, at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at a later date.
