Dorothy "Dottie" Rose Kriz Obituary

Dorothy (Dottie) Rose Kriz was born on July 24, 1920, in Chicago, IL. Little did her parents know that this bouncing baby girl, one of 4 children, would live to 100 years of age. She saw changes in our world and lived through many trying times in our nation’s history. Dorothy worked for Prairie Farmer magazine for over 40 years in the Chicagoland area. She worked her way up to the secretary to the president of the publication. Dorothy retired in 1985 and continued to live in her childhood home until 2016. She moved to Rogers Ar, to be with her great-niece and nephew Maria and Jon Akehurst and their family. Later Dottie moved to the Medows Assisted Living in Bentonville. She enjoyed her time living near her Nephew Vaclav Michalek and meeting and making new friends. She spent her last years living between Jamestown and later Promenade Nursing and Rehab. In June, she was put under Circle Of Life Hospice and received compassionate care until her passing on Nov. 24, 2020. She was a good woman with a generous heart who loves her family immensely. She was a strong Catholic. She loved to travel with her best friend, Olga, before and after her retirement. Dorothy had a great love for her long-term boyfriend, Bob Kokoska, who preceded her in death in 1997. She never did marry but “adopted” her relatives as her children and made sure they were cared for. She will dearly be missed by all who knew her. Dorothy (Dottie) was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Edward and Mary (Macha) Kriz, a brother George Kriz, two sisters Elsa Kriz and Silvia Eustich, her niece Nancy M Michalek and Nephew Vaclav Michalek and Gary Sumita, and Great Nephew by marriage Jon Akehurst. Dottie leaves behind her great-niece Maria Akehurst and her children Hannah and Clayton Akehurst of Bentonville, great-nieces and nephews Lisa Karim, Robert Schmit, Julie Woods, Daniel Sumita, and many other great-great-nieces and nephews in the Chicagoland area.
