Roger Louis Leaderbrand was born on May 13, 1927 on the family farm in New York Mills. His parents were the late Henry and Katherine (Scheppel) Leaderbrand. On May 3, 1928 Roger was baptized and confirmed on June 27, 1943 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New York Mills. Roger attended New York Mills High School until his junior year, and continued farming with his dad.  Roger proudly served in the United States Army from April 30, 1952 to May 3, 1954.

On March 10, 1957 Roger was united in marriage to Helen Caroline Horn at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, Minnesota.  Their marriage was blessed with three sons: Gary, Wayne and Jay. Roger farmed with his sons until five years ago.

Roger enjoyed reading, telling stories and jokes, ice fishing, hunting deer, pheasant and squirrels. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

On November 24, 2020 Roger passed away at his home at 93 years of age.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Preceding Roger in death were his parents, Henry and Katherine; brother, Arnold Leaderbrand; sisters: Thelma Derkey and Dorothy Eckland.

Roger is survived by his wife, Helen; sons: Gary (Vicki) Leaderbrand of New York Mills; Wayne (Kelly) Leaderbrand of New York Mills; and Jay (Tam) Leaderbrand of New York Mills; grandchildren: Angela, Terri, John, Katie (Kevin), Nathan (Maddison), Ryan and Justin; great-grandchildren: Francis and Tanner; many other relatives and a host of friends.
