Wayne Riddell "Pop Pop" Cowart Obituary

Wayne Riddell "Pop Pop" Cowart, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Monday, November 23, 2020 at the age of 80. He was a 1958 graduate of Murphy High School; 1962 graduate of Springhill College; was a member of the Springhill basketball team; was in the ROTC and First Lieutenant in the US Army (1963-1965); attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church; was a member of Mystic organizations; and owned and operated Cowart Appraisal Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston Wayne Cowart and Dorothy Riddell Jackson Cowart. His survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Anne Shearer Pullen Cowart; his sons, John Winston (Sandi) Cowart and Michael Riddell (Cissy) Cowart, Sr.; sister, Carol Cowart Graham; grandchildren, Winston Cowart, Michael Cowart, Jr, Caroline Cowart, Ramsey Cowart, and Libby Cowart; other relatives and friends. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Martin Lester and caregiver, Shirley Young for their dedicated care and family support. The family will receive friends Friday, November 27, 2020 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon in the Parish Hall of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the home of Michael and Cissy Cowart, 10 Country Club Road, Mobile, AL 36608. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Wayne's name to L'Arche of Mobile.
