Daniel Depute----78, Minot, formerly of Berthold, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 in a Minot hospital.  Daniel was born May 15, 1942 the 11th of 12 children to William J. and Eva (Hennessy) Depute. He was raised and educated in Berthold, graduating from Berthold High School in 1961. He attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND receiving his degree in diesel mechanics in 1963.  On October 12, 1963, Daniel was united in marriage to Linda Taylor. They made their home on the family farm west of Berthold, eventually moving to Minot in 1969. In 1971, the couple moved back to Berthold where Daniel built a new home on the family farm, moving into it in 1976 to raise their 5 children.  Daniel was employed as a mechanic at Krebsbach Inc. in Minot for many years and later worked for Schriock Construction and Neshem Peterson. In his semi-retirement he worked as a farm hand for Alan Lee and Leeson Farms.  He was a hard-working, kind and honest man who faced life’s adversities with grace, perseverance and strength. He could “fix” anything and enjoyed rebuilding older model Farmall and Case tractors. In his retirement years he built many farm implement replicas out of odds and ends he found in his shop, garage and junk drawers. During this time he collected miniature versions of his favorite “red” and “orange” tractors.  Daniel loved the simple things in life: a walk on the farm, having coffee with his many friends and family, fishing, lending a hand, and spending time with his family. His strength, patience and intelligence were admirable and served him well throughout his life. Any man can be father but it takes a special man to be a dad. We will miss him terribly and remember him always.  Daniel is survived by his children: Mitchell (Mary) Depute, Melissa Depute, Mickey (Kathy) Depute and Mary (Kevin) Krueger; 7 grandchildren, Megan (Leonard) Murray, Matthew (Nicky) Depute, Michael (April) Warner, Derek (Brekka) Warner, and Hailee, Morgan and Brock Depute; great-grandchildren, Glory Murray, Nora, Carver, and Ava Depute and Aria Warner; step- great- grandchildren, Lauren Murray and Andrew Baldridge; brothers, Jerome and Francis Depute; sisters, Donna and Jane Depute; and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years, Linda Depute; son, William “Billy” Depute, brothers, William, George, Eugene and Lawrence Depute; sisters, Marcella Depute, Delores Drangsholt and Gertrude Sims.  Visitation: Friday, November 27, 2020, from 3-5 at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Family Vigil Prayer Service: Friday, November 27, 2020 at 5 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 11 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Berthold, ND Burial: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold, ND.
