Steven Lewis Nusbaum

Mr. Steven Lewis “Steve” Nusbaum, 64, of Elkhart, peacefully left this world to rest with his Savior on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 8:24 pm at Elkhart General Hospital following a brief illness induced by Covid-19. He was born on February 12, 1956 Richmond, Indiana, and was the son of the late Robert (his adoptive “Pop”) and Naomi (Phillips) Nusbaum, as well as his biological father Cecil Revalee.

Surviving are his children Benjamin Nusbaum of Elkhart and Nichole “Nikki” (Deshoun) Everhart of Warsaw; brothers Richard “Rick” (Angela) Revalee of Centerville, IN, Mark (Amanda) Revalee of Cambridge City, IN, Robert “Bob” Martin of Raleigh, NC, Steve Martin of Whitewater, IN and Ken (Carol) Revalee of Florida; sisters Jane Ann (Ken) Bond of Indianapolis, IN, Debrah (John) Lukes of Sparta, TN, Barbara Burdette of Richmond, Robin Revalee Miers of New Castle, IN, Dawn (Jeffrey) Revalee Stevens of Cambridge City and Katha Haggerty of New Paris, OH; grandchildren Brinn Marie Ellis, Madelyn Elizabeth Burnett and Annabelle Louise Everhart; brothers-in-law Tim and Dan Hale; 22 nieces and nephews; 21 great nieces and nephews, and a host of loving extended family, church family, Harley buddies and good friends. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-mother Eileen Revalee and mother-in-law Rev. Fannie B. Hale.

In accordance with Steve’s wishes, cremation is to take place followed by a burial at his family’s plot at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the family has decided to postpone memorial services until a later date. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting Steve’s family with the arrangements.

Steve worked many years as a printer at Duplex Products in Elkhart, then went on to Vincent Bach of Elkhart, where he worked as a metal buffer. He was very devoted to his Christian beliefs and belonged to the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Elkhart, where he served on the security team there.

His strong, deep faith in his Lord and in his fellow man was the foundation upon which he lived. He was also a devout Harley-Davidson enthusiast, and loved to ride his bike everywhere as long as the weather allowed a safe trip. These two activities were a perfect fit for Steve’s generous and compassionate personality; a trait that earned himself many long-lasting friendships. He was always passionate about what he believed in, and he threw himself 100 percent into everything he did.              

 Steve often enjoyed going to the gym and followed a pretty demanding work-out and weight training regimen. During more relaxed times, he enjoyed action movies, watching “Walker, Texas Ranger” and, believe it or not, the Hallmark Channel. (Yes, our Steve had a soft side as well!) Additionally, he was a die-hard devotee of the Chicago White Sox and everyone’s favorite, “Da Bears”, as well as being an avid fan of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame!

Memorial donations made in Steve’s memory may be given to the Vision for Christ Missions, Inc., 414 South Maple Avenue, Warsaw, IN 46580, which is a worldwide missions institution that assists the needy. It was founded by his mother-in-law, the Rev. Fannie B. Hale, over 40 years ago. Thank you so much for your interest in Steve’s life story!
