Edgar Wardlaw, Jr., 77, of Abbeville, husband of Faye Wardlaw, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his home. Born May 4, 1943 in Abbeville, he was the son of the late Edgar Wardlaw, Sr. and Martha Sherard Wardlaw. Edgar attended Abbeville public schools and retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation after 35 years as a maintenance foreman. A life member of the Dreher Masonic Lodge 370 for 31 years, he was of the Baptist faith and affiliated with Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Abbeville County. Edgar was preceded in death by a very loving aunt, Fannie Bell Rouse. In addition to his devoted wife of 26 years, he is survived by his children, Evelyn Harris (Andrew) of Abbeville, Evangelist Lytonuia Cole of Miami, FL, Jacqueline Dixon (Edward) of Honea Path, Anthony Moore and Edgar Moore, both of Abbeville, Lisa Tolbert (Derrick) of Greenwood, April Mars of Columbia, and William Starks, Jr. (Iris) and Rico Starks, all of Georgia; twenty-one grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Edgar will also be missed by his dear stepmother, Gladys Wardlaw, of Abbeville and her family; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Belton (Robert) and Debra Mars, all of Abbeville; a brother-in-law, John Mars (Sara) of Anderson; four special cousins regarded as siblings, Janie Bell and Lewis Wardlaw (Barbara) of Anderson, Fannie Lewis (Robert) of Abbeville, and James W. Wardlaw of Simpsonville; and a host of other friends and relatives. A private family funeral service will be held in the Harris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks are encouraged. Those wishing to pay their respects may visit Harris Funeral Home on Monday, November 30 from12:00PM – 5:00PM and Tuesday, December 1 from 9:00AM – 12:00PM.
