<p><strong>Shirley Alice Powers </strong>of Akron entered into rest November 22, 2020. She was born on December 2, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY to Devillo and Mary Gray.</p> <p>In 1958, she graduated from State University of NY Teachers College at Fredonia with a Bachelor of Science. After a 30+ year career teaching first grade at Allendale Elementary School, Shirley retired in 1995 and set out on numerous traveling adventures as a leader of the Hamburg Senior Citizens Travel Club. Not content to do local bus trips, Shirley took the group far and wide with trips to New York City, the Grand Canyon, California, Alaska, Hawaii, and many other locales.</p> <p>Shirley was predeceased by her husband John Powers and her siblings Devillo Gray, Bruce Gray and Aileen Hogge. She is survived by her sons Steven Powers, David (Linda) Powers and daughter Alison (Joseph) Paluchak. Shirley was proud grandmother to David and Samantha Powers and JoAllie and Bryleigh Paluchak. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Due to the COVID restrictions future arrangements will be made at the convenience of the family.<br /> &nbsp;</p>

In 1958, she graduated from State University of NY Teachers College at Fredonia with a Bachelor of Science.
