Hallie Geneva Rutledge Obituary

Manchester - Funeral services for Mrs. Hallie G. Cunningham Rutledge, 86 of Manchester will be conducted Monday, November 9 at 1:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kerry Walker officiating services. Burial will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens at 3:00 PM. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, November 8 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Rutledge passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009.Mrs. Rutledge was born May 21, 1923 in Oakmont, West Virginia to the late Harry and Ethel Cunningham. In earlier years, she worked as a secretary in medical records at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland, MD. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and watching football as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she worked in the library and served as a Sunday school teacher. She was also active in the Gideon Bible auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband James Rutledge who passed away in 2001; and one brother, Harry Cunningham.Her survivors include two sons, James (Phyllis) Rutledge of Monroe, WI, Lee Rutledge of Oklahoma City, OK; a daughter, Mary (Butch) Landis of York, PA; two brothers, Allen (Mary) Cunningham of Hanover, PA, John (Artie) Cunningham of Petersburg, West VA; and one sister, Margaret (Clarence) Berg of Hanover, PA; grandchildren, Christine (Scott) Shippy, Jeremy (Melissa) Rutledge, and Tracey Rutledge; five great grandchildren; loving friends and neighbors, JaNelle and Joe Burt; and numerous nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gideon's Bible and/or the local Good Samaritan.
