Jacqueline Goeree
Jacqueline was born on May 22, 1924 in Stadskanaal, Netherlands. Her name then was Tjaakje Horlings
She married Jacob Ham on January 9,1947 after WWII ended and then they moved to Wisconsin where they were sponsored to work on a farm by Jackie’s Uncle. When she became a US citizen, she changed her name to Jacqueline and most people called her “Jackie.”
Within 3 years they moved to Bellflower, California where the weather was warmer. They had 3 daughters Ina, Susan, and Cathy. They started a home for handicapped children in Fullerton, Ca and then they moved to Oregon in 1977 where they built a larger home to accommodate 15 handicapped children. They did this until 1989 when they retired on Maui. This truly was Jackie’s favorite place and time in her life. She started a T-shirt business where she painted flowers on them and sold them at a local shop in Lahaina. Jacob died in 2005 and she married Tony Goeree when she was 80. She then moved to Mission Viejo, Ca where he lived. She loved being creative and started painting as her new hobby. They were married for 11 years until he died. Jackie then moved to Murrieta, Ca to be near her daughter Cathy. She lived in her own home until she could no longer live by herself and moved in with Cathy and son-in-law Scott and they all moved to Coupeville, Washington in 2020. Her favorite topic to talk about was heaven and she died peacefully at home Nov 10th, 2020. She is survived by her sister Jenny White, her daughters Susan and Cathy, 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
