Tullahoma - Richard Dean Cathey, age 74, of Tullahoma passed from this life on January 30, 2020, at his residence. Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Richard was born May 30, 1945, in Shelbyville, to the late John Hillary Cathey and Martha Lord Cathey. Richard was a devout Christian, lifting up the name of Jesus to everyone he met. A graduate of MTSU, he was a dental lab owner for the last 27 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Titans football. He photographed deer, birds, and other wildlife, and had birds eating from his hands. He also frequented flea markets and collected antique glassware.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Connie Jones Cathey; brothers, John H. Cathey (Amelia), James D. Cathey (Lorene), and Marty L. Cathey (Amy); nephews, Jeff Cathey (Maureen), Matthew Cathey (Tosha), Daniel Cathey (Michelle), and Trevor Watson; nieces, Allison Cathey Long (Steve), Sarah Cathey, and Andrea Ball (Dennis); great-nieces and nephews, Rachel Cathey, Spencer Cathey, Sam Long, Clara Cathey, Wesley Cathey, Emmy Cathey, Lucy Cathey, Easton Ball, Rowan Ball, and Landon Ball.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
