Auris Gerod Singletary was born on January 11, 1950, in Florence, SC. He was the son of the late Lex Singletary and Jannie Bell Peterson Singletary. He departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2020.
Auris attended the public schools of Florence District One. He was a graduate of Wilson Senior High School class of 1968. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was also formerly employed with Socar as a certified welder.
Auris was a member of Bowers Chapel United Methodist Church in Florence, SC where he served in various roles. He was Superintendent of the Sunday School, Vice-Chair of Trustees, Lay Speaker, Usher, and member of the Brotherhood. He was also the first person to be “fully emerged in Baptism” at Bowers Chapel.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother Jannie Bell Singletary, wife Janice Singletary, sons Auris Singletary of Florence, SC, Rodney (Shannon) Nichols of Atlanta, GA, Stacy Nichols of Greenville, SC, and Marquez Martin of Florence, SC, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Auris was a kind, loving, and easygoing person who will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.
