Mrs. Ida Mae Hickson Cobb was born on June 25, 1953, in Florence, SC. She was the daughter of the late Willie Hickson and Bessie Rodina Atkinson Hickson. She departed this earthly life on November 24, 2020, after an illness. She attended the public schools of Florence County and attended Southside High School. She obtained her GED from Poyner. She was a member of Savannah Grove Baptist Church and served as a missionary. Ida loved cooking for her family, and was known for making “Ida’s sweet tea and lemonade and sweet potato pie”. Ida had a heart of gold and made sure everyone she came in contact with was taken care of. Ida was a dedicated and devoted grandmother and she cared for those that were sick and shut-in. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Sylvester L. Cobb, and special friend John L. Cooper. father and mother Willie and Bessie Hickson, three brothers Willie Hickson, Jr., Alex J. Hickson, Frankie E Hickson Sr. three sisters Alberta Hickson, Mary R. Evans, and Elizabeth Hickson Smith. She leaves behind two daughters; Carolyn Cobb of Columbia, SC and Melissa Cobb of Charlotte NC; four granddaughters, Sabrina Cobb, Serenity Rice, Blessing Rice, and Yazmine Luckey, three grandsons; Serious Rice, Magnificent Rice, and Honor Everette; a special son; Wilbert Rice, three sisters; Betty A. Hickson of Columbia, SC, Mary F. Hickson of Lauderhill, FL, Helen J. Hickson of Florence, SC, one brother James E. Hickson, Florence, SC, two sisters-in-law, Elease Graham Hickson of Florence, SC, and Annie Ellerbee, brother-in-law Leroy Cobb; a host of nieces and nephews relatives and friends and extended family The Cooper’s.
