Milton Earle Nowell, 91, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020. Born Sunday, July 7, 1929 in Bangor, Maine, he was the son of the late Merton and Margaret Stevenson Nowell. Milton served his country in the United States Navy. He married the love of his life, Elsie, in 1956 and began building their family, settling in Charlotte in 1958. Milton never failed to make a yearly visit back to his home state of Maine where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Milton is survived by his loving children: Eva Marie Nowell King and her husband, Ronnie, and Matthew E. Nowell and his wife, Laurie; grandsons, Jason King and Matthew Nowell, Jr.; sisters: Joyce Sparrow and Lillian Smith; brother, Edwin Nowell; long-time Navy friend, Alfred Petterson; and many more loving family and friends. In addition to his parents, Milton was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elsie Young Nowell; and his sister, Lois Knowles. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Sunset Memory Gardens, Mint Hill, NC, with Pastor Brian Ottinger officiating and Derek Murray to provide a closing song in memory of Milton.
