Mark William Ofiesh Beverly, Massachusetts Obituary

Mark William Ofiesh

Mark Ofiesh passed away November 22nd with his daughter and niece by his side at the Kaplan House. His untimely passing comes after fighting to recover from a tragic motorcycle accident when his rear tire failed. He was born in Luzerne County, PA and his family moved to Beverly in 1973. He graduated from Beverly High School in 1979, and shared many stories about running track and cross country there. He then went on to have adventures in various careers: bartending, electrical work, presiding over the Cape Ann Sportsmans Club, rehabbing racing greyhounds, truck driving across the country...but he always returned to serving others through food, which he loved the most. Mark was a long-time team member at Super Sub, and was most recently back at the Gloria Food Store owned by him and his family. Marko was a brother to motorcyclists all over the state, and championed motorcycle safety and brotherhood. His last Sunday ride was with his beloved crew, the Fathers of Lethargy, who have brought him endless joy over the years. He was known for sneakily paying for dinner, his unique beard, spontaneous road trips, bear hugs, flannel shirts, and his amazing mac and cheese. He is predeceased by his father Paul Ofiesh and his mother Rosemarie Ofiesh along with several cousins. His spirit lives on in his daughter Caitlyn of Beverly; son Chris of Haverhill; sister Melissa (Dale) of Georgia; brothers Scott (Eileen) and Kirk (Val) of Beverly; nieces Sarah, Stephanie, Nicole and Ellie Ofiesh of Beverly, Jessica and Amanda Goveny of Gloucester, and Taylor Kaufman of Danvers; nephews Paul Ofiesh of Beverly, Alex Redmon of Georgia and Jeremy Sweeney of Gloucester; his first great-niece Lennox of Gloucester; and his ex-wife but close friend Brenda of Danvers. He also leaves many cousins, dear friends, neighbors, loyal customers and others who, despite changes in life, remained family to him. Visitation will be held in the Campbell Funeral Home 525 Cabot Street Beverly on Saturday November 28, 2020 from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to “Marko’s Fight Fund” on GoFundMe to help support his family in this trying time.
