David Franklin Jenkins

Mr. David Franklin Jenkins, age 81, of Rocky Ridge and formerly of Woodsboro, died Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Kline Hospice House, near New Market, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born June 19, 1935 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Thomas Franklin Jenkins Sr. and Alice C. Biddison Jenkins. He was the husband of Betty Mullinix Jenkins, his wife of 30 years. Mr. Jenkins served in the U.S. Army from 1958-60. He was a member of American Legion Post 282 of Woodsboro and V.F.W. Post 8806 of Union Bridge. He was employed on a horse farm for the last 37 years, retiring in 2015. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and loved his dog "Mandy". In addition to his wife are stepchildren, Pam Misener and wife April Thompson, of Binghamton, NY; Rick Sweadner and wife Kim, and Lee Anne Little and husband Rick, all of Woodsboro; 4 granddaughters, Stefany Cordell and husband Adam, Stacy Sweadner and fiancé Brandon Green and Julie and Taylor Little and nieces, Rayna Thormann and Sheila Purkey (Rodger), both of Baltimore. He was predeceased by sisters, Clara Deshner and Anette Granruth and a brother, Thomas F. Jenkins Jr. The family would like to thank Dr. Bazzi and his staff as well as his special nurses on 2C at FMH for their wonderful care and compassion. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 2. Memorial contributions may be made to Kline Hospice House, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
