John B. Hogan, Jr. Obituary

John B. Hogan, Jr. entered into the Kingdom of heaven on Saturday, November 21, 2020. He was born to John and Catherine Hogan on July 25, 1942 in Washington D.C. In 1964, he graduated from Mount Saint Marys University and began a career in the United States Navy that spanned 20 years. He was a designated Naval Flight Officer and flew both as a Global Transport Navigator and later as a Bombardier Navigator in all models of the A-6 Intruder. He was a combat veteran of the Viet Nam War. Upon retirement from the Navy, he enjoyed a second career as a Senior Analyst/Program Manager for several defense industry corporations and was fortunate to return to his family home in Virginia Beach to continue working until he reached his final retirement. John was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He graduated from Mount Saint Marys University in 1964. He was proud to serve his country as a career Naval Officer. He was an active member in the Association of Naval Aviation and the Intruder Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Hogan and Catherine (Beirn) Hogan as well as his son, John Patrick Hogan. He is survived by his soul mate and wife, Rosemary; beloved daughter, Geri Fortin; cherished granddaughters Shannon and Erin Fortin; and his sister Cathleen Shea. He loved being Shannon and Erins "Bubba". Bubba will be remembered for his positive outlook on life, his witty sense of humor, his loyalty to his friends, and his generosity. He was a firm believer in his faith and wished his passing to be a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to: The Patrick Hogan Memorial Fund; Mount Saint Marys University; 16300 Old Emmitsburg Road, Emmitsburg MD 21727; Attention Office of Development. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on December 16, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on August 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM
