Rita A. Boucher Obituary

Rita A. (Meunier) Boucher (103) passed away on November 21st at Mont Marie Health Care Center.  A life-long resident of Holyoke, she was born on May 10, 1917 to the late Joseph A. and Lena M. Meunier. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Armand (Pete) Boucher (1987), her brothers and their spouses, Joseph (Mary Rose) Jr., Roger (Marguerite), Roland, and Eugene (Mary). She is survived by her two sisters, Yvette Meunier and Jacqueline (Joseph) Prairie along with four generations of nieces and nephews.

Retiring from the Springfield Photo Mount Company in 1979 after working in the office over 40 years, Rita led a full life in retirement, never idle, working a collection of part-time jobs, including  Steiger’s, Filene’s, Lord and Taylor, and Macy’s. A Eucharistic minister for Holy Family Parish until they closed, she then became a devoted communicate of Blessed Sacrament Church. In the summer you could find her tending to her gardens or sitting by the pool with a book. She traveled the world with her sisters, enjoying many cruises.

Rita always made holidays and family milestones memorable by hosting many parties and summer cookouts at her home. In 2017, over 100 family members and friends honored Rita with a surprise 100th birthday celebration.

Rita’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Western Mass Eldercare and Mont Marie for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be held in the Barry J.
