Richard Barnes of Grove, OK passed from this life Sunday, November 22, 2020 at his home. He was 72. Richard was born November 5, 1948 in Claremore, OK to Richard and Viola (Dushane) Barnes. He graduated from Quapaw High School class of 1967. He was a member of the Shawnee and Delaware Indian Tribes. He had lived in Grove for the past 13 years moving from Picher, OK. He was a member of the Hickory Point Church in Grove, OK. He was a roofer and asbestos remover. He was a Golden Glove Boxer with over 40 Pro Boxer Fights. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Barnes, November 1, 2020 and 1 grandson Hayden Dushane Fredrick Barnes and 1great granddaughter Failon Barnes, his parents, 5 brothers Irvin Barnes, Simpson Joe Barnes, David Barnes, Benny Barnes and Michael Barnes and 2 sisters Cleora Scott and Barbara Wilson. Survivors include 3 sons Richard Barnes, III of Grove, OK, Todd Barnes of Miami, OK and Tyson Barnes and wife Erin of Miami, OK, 2 daughters LaDonna Robertson of Bakersfield, CA and Michelle Barnes of Grove, OK, 1 brother Clifford Barnes of Quapaw, OK, 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2020 at Lewis Shawnee Cemetery in White Oak, OK. Rev. Steven Daugherty will officiate and Native American Rites will be conducted by Joel Barnes. Phillip Rainey, Adam Rainey, Bucky Barnes, Tyler Crow, Tristan Barnes and Ben Barnes will serve as pallbearers. Richard will lie in state at the Ottawa – Peoria Community Building in Miami, OK from 4:00 p.m. Thursday to the next morning.
