<p>Mr. Verlos Duane Bishop of the Vassar, &amp; Millington areas passed away late Sunday evening November 22, 2020 at the age of 89.</p> <p>Duane was born on December 24, 1930 in Flint, Michigan and was the son of the late Paul &amp; Louetta (Horne) Bishop. After he graduated from high school Duane joined the United States Air Force where he served our country for 20 years. In 1956 Duane married Miss Margret Wimmel and together they celebrated 66 years of marriage. Margret passed away on November 14, 2020. As a young child Duane grew up in Arkansas working on the family farm. He loved to hunt, fish, was very good with numbers and dates, and of all things in life he loved spending time with family, grandchildren, and friends. Duane retired from Means Manufacturing in Vassar, Michigan after ten years of service with them.</p> <p>Duane leaves his family. Dorothy (Randy) Buchinger, Robert (Kerry) Bishop, Linda (Gary) Kasper, Patricia (Dana) Cluckey, and Ken (Melissa) Bishop, and Nancy (Brad) Schenk. He also leaves 18 grandchildren, 27 great- grandchildren( with two more on the way) and three sisters: Pauline Stange, Alversa Hale, and Pat Thayer, several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Besides his wife and parents, ( who he lost his parents at a young age), Duane is also preceded in death by a great-grandson Liam Charles Kelly, &nbsp;a brother and sister in-law Harold &amp; Lorraine Bishop, a special aunt Wilma Cooper, three brother&rsquo;s in-law Jim Stange, Robert Thayer, and Stan Hale.</p> <p>There will be a private family gathering at Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, on Friday November 27, 2020 at 11;00 AM followed by a private burial at the Riverside Cemetery in Vassar, Michigan. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to a charity of one&rsquo;s choice. Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington has been assisting the family with arrangements.
