Anita Presley Aris Obituary

ARIS, Anita Presley, 83, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 20, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Skidmore Presley and Nettie Leora Napier Presley. Anita is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Alfredo Aris; four sisters: Iva Gail Justice, Richmond Ky.; Eula Blankenship, Roanoke, Va.; Sherry (Tom) Haynes, Neon, Ky.; Tammy Warren (Phil), Crestwood, Ky.; and one brother: Tinley (Ellyn) Presley, Ocala, Fla. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Anita was born on Aug. 29, 1937, in Dizney, Kentucky, and was a graduate of Evarts High School (1956). She worked for a short time as a nurse’s aid before beginning her long and successful career with C&P Telephone Company, which became Bell Atlantic Maryland and now Verizon. She retired in 1986 at age 50. Anita and Al enjoyed traveling. They also stayed active through water exercise classes at the YMCA. Anita and several dear friends started knitting together and formed the “Knit Chicks.” She also enjoyed cooking. Anita’s faith the Lord Jesus Christ guided her life, and she inspired all who knew and loved her not to worry but to trust God. As the firstborn in her family, Anita truly led by example, through her generosity, hospitality and love. She supported many, many charities and was always there to listen and offer her wisdom to family and friends. In these COVID times, expressions of sympathy in memory of Anita may take the form of a simple act of random kindness or a donation to the donor’s favorite charity.
