Gary T. Gooding

On November 19, 2020, Gary "Ted" Gooding entered into a peaceful and eternal rest. Gary "Ted" Gooding was born on March 20, 1953 in Lake City, SC to Freda Barr and Willie James Gooden. He spent much of his early childhood years there and eventually moved to Paterson, New Jersey as a teenager. He was a graduate of Paterson John F. Kennedy High School, where he was a star football player. After graduating in 1972, he found employment at Bergen Pines County Hospital, Paramus, N.J. where he was employed for 37 years. He was also employed at Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ, until he retired there after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his mother, Freda Barr; his father, Willie James Gooden; and five sisters, Allean Singletary Gamble, Joanne Gooden Flynn, Mattie Lou Singletary Cameron, Alvina Dean Singletary and Patricia (Pat) Gooden; and three brothers, Dovell Singletary, Sank (Buster) Singletary (Eva Gamble) and Waiters (Pap) Gooden (Grace Gooden). He was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Eddie C. Mathis (Terrill Yancy and Kim Robinson Randall) and four nieces Debbie Gooden, Darlene "Red" Gooden, LaTresha "Ms. T" Flynn and Janice "Niecy" Gooden. Gary is survived and leaves to cherish fond memories: a loving and devoted beautiful wife, Elizabeth Mathis Gooding of the home; two daughters, Natasha Davis (Gregory Davis) of Passaic, NJ.; Trinette Carruthers, Ed.D. (Kenya Carruthers) of New Milford, NJ; five granddaughters Amaya, Laila, Skyla and Dakota Carruthers of New Milford, NJ and Chloe Ragland Davis of Bronx, New York. One Goddaughter, Alyssa Armstrong of Paterson, NJ. One sister, Roy Lee Gooden of Paterson. One brother-in-law, Almond "Louis" Mathis (Maurice Strong) of Fayetville, N.C. He will be missed by all who loved him; eight nieces, Margret Brown, Barbara Frison, Miranda Singletary, Cheryl Cameron, Vivan (Brownie) Perry-Robinson, Thelma Oliver, Geneva Singletary, and Lukeisha Flynn; eight nephews, Jerome Gamble, Ervin Gamble, Jimmy "Budd" Gamble, Anthony Singletary, James "Russell" Cameron, Eric Cameron, Danny Singletary, and Buster "B.J." Singletary; some very devoted friends, Deborah "Debbie" Armstrong, Archie James, Herman Linton, Roger McClam, Joe Frison, Luke Blackwell, and a host of other special family and friends. The family of Gary Gooding would like to say "Thank You" to his great team of Health Care Medical Professionals, Dr. Robert Harris MD, Dr. Ranka Samsa MD and Dr. Harold Kim MD.
