Darlene Clemmer King, age 89, of Thurmont, died Monday, May 22, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born January 11, 1928 in Sellersville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Mabel Haring Clemmer. Mrs. King was a 1945 graduate of Sell Perk High School in Pennsylvania, where she was the secretary of her senior class. She was a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Sellersville and their Women's Guild. She was currently a member of the Graceham Moravian Church and the Women's Fellowship. She had been an employee of the Union National Bank in Souderton, PA, starting as a teller and retiring from the loan department. She loved her family and family gatherings, cooking, sewing, playing bingo and cards and was a big fan of the Miami Dolphins. Surviving are her daughter, Cheryl D. Back and husband Timothy of Thurmont; 3 grandsons, James, Tony and Shawn Back; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her former husband, George M. King; 3 sisters, Grace, Helen and Irene and 2 brothers, Arthur and Garwood. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3 at the Graceham Moravian Church, with Pastor Sue Koenig, church pastor, officiating. A fellowship luncheon will follow the service. All who plan to attend are encouraged to wear brightly colored clothes. Private interment in the church cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
